I am trying to figure out a shifting issue on a 1998 Accord. When it was brought to me it had trouble code P1739 3RD Pressure Switch Failure . It had 4 other engine codes that I took care of P1491,P0420,P0401 and P1456 and now has no TCs showing. Now the engine runs great but the trans mission is shifting wrong. It shifts hard into forward or reverse. When I take off it take way to long to shift into next gear. When I slow down it feels like the break is being applied. When stopped it wont go forward again like I have my foot on the break. I replaced the 3RD Pressure Switch first and the TC disappeared but it was not shifting right so I replaced the shift control solenoid and the duel linear shift solenoid and still not shifting right but not showing any TCs. This one has me stumped and cant find where I did something wrong or how to fix the issue. Anyone with more knowledge with input would be greatly appreciated .

 

Transmissions are difficult to diagnose. Most of the hydraulics are internal and take a teardown to fix. Start simple. Have you changed the transmission fluid?

Were you having the shifting issue before replacing the 3rd pressure switch?

 

Yes thats why I replaced it and that is what the trouble code siad the problem was
