Question 1998 honda accord codes

Hi guys,

I'm new at this forum and need lots of help.

My engine light just came on this morning. I went to the dealer and gave me a FREE diagnosis. They gave me several codes of P0300/P0304/P0305 and P0420. The codes for the P0300's are for misfiring and the the P0420 is for my catalytic converter.

I need help/suggestions on what to do or expect with the P0300's series codes in getting it fixed.

Thanks

How many miles are on the car? When did you last change the spark plugs, distributor cap, and distributor rotor? What kind of spark plugs were used?

Was any work done on the car right before this started happening?

199,000 + miles. I had the distributor cap changed before but that was 2-3 yrs. ago. I'm also getting my timing belt done cause not only it is due but there is a water pump leak they found along with some kind of oil seal leak beyond that same area which will cost me over $1300 together.

I've never had the spark plugs done before either. Also, the dealer recommended a valve adjustment before this happened.

A new set of good spark plugs is place to start.

Also check your wires by spraying w/ fine mist of water at night w/ engine running. Any missing and sparks flying indicates wires need replacing.

good luck
