1999 Accord-Do I need a new ignition?
Hello anybody that might know-I have a parked 99 Accord with anti-theft. In the past it has not started or jump started with the correct transponder key twice. After sitting for several hours or overnight it did start both times but it was sitting cold before both initial failed attempts. I did not think to notice if the green key light was blinking while it turned over. My wife has lost the transponder key and all I have is the key I had cut for the door. My dilemma is this: do I bother to tow it to the locksmith to get it reprogrammed for 85$ with a new key, or should I go ahead and replace the ignition switch (I am assuming the module is in the switch). Thank you for your time.

If a locksmith can make a key for the ignition cylinder and reprogram the ECM/PCM, there shouldn't be a need for a new ignition.

Intermittent start-1999 Accord
Then after a new key is made if we continue to have sporadic trouble starting the car I should look at the relay switch? I was wondering if the 85$ was better spent on a new ignition switch if that was possibly the source of the occasional starting problem and I thought some of those switches were recalled. Thanks again
