Default 2000 Honda Accord V6 not responding to gas pedal then surging

Hey everyone! I have a 2000 Honda Accord V6 with 160K miles that started messing up two days ago. When I started driving, the car stopped being responsive to gas then jerked forward and continued this pattern until I pulled over and parked the car. This morning, I drove it again to see if the problem persisted and it did until the engine warmed up. Once the engine warmed, the car started driving smoothly again. I currently have a p1259 code which I've been told is a vtec solenoid problem, could that be causing this? I have had the p1259 code for a while now but this problem just started two days ago. I don't know if it has anything to do with the weather either, since it has been raining for about 6 days straight, and my car has notoriously had problems during inclement weather. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Check your oil level first.

There is a pretty detailed procedure in the shop manual for your accord for a P1259. I highly suggest purchasing a shop manual. You can get one from automanualsource.com for ~$22. It is worth every penny for DIY work.

What problems has your car had during inclement weather?

As PAhonda mentioned what are the issues with the car when it is raining? Sounds like you may have two issues here. The Vetc does not kick in for most normal drivers. I would have to look at the books but I believe it is around 5,000 to 5,500 when it kicks in for your car, thus without more information I have to deduce the you are or have been driving the car hard. If the rough running is related to wet weather then it is likely an electrical issue. Best of luck.
