2000 Transmission Shift point
Hello. This is my first post. I have a 2000 Accord LX 2.3 with almost 158,000 miles and an automatic trans. At times, and most particularly 3rd to 4th gear, I have to rev the engine upward of 2700 to 3000 RPM's to get the transmission to shift -- but only when going downhill; this does not occur on level or upward grades. It use to shift at lower RMP's. I'm thinking it's something to do with the grade logic transmission. Any ideas?

Thank you for the reply. How does one check for stored codes? What tool is needed? As for the fluid, it was last flushed (cooler line) about 5000 miles ago with Valvoline Maxlife and one bottle of Lubegard Platinum. This shift problem, however, started last summer before the fluid change. At that time, the transmission was using Honda DW-1 and one bottle of Lubegard Red.

Many parts stores (outside of CA) will scan for codes for free, just be sure to get the actual code and not their description of the code.
There are some codes that will not "trip" the CEL/MIL light so it is worth checking.
