2000 V6 Extended time starting!!
I have a 2000 V6 that runs just fine. I go across states with it when needed. Do local driving fine, but I noticed that it is taking longer to start. It cranks fine and strong. After it starts, it runs just fine without ever cutting off. I had the timing belt changed @113,000. It is now at 214,000 and HAS NEVER EVER BROKEN DOWN ON ME!!!!!! NEVER!!!!! This car is EXTREME SENTIMENTAL VALUE and I will NEVER sell it!!!! I just notice that it takes a little longer to start, and that is sometimes, not all the time. I never replaced the spark plug wires, I did change the spark plugs probably close to 115,000 miles, but it is now at 214,000. I ALWAYS use FULL SYNTHETIC Mobil One oil. No codes,had a tranny code, but replaced the sensor and erased the code, no more code. Think its time to change the spark plug wires? Spark plugs? The rotor thing that delivers the spark I never changed it neither.
Fresh spark plugs are always helpful.
another tip;
turn on the key and wait 5 seconds before cranking to allow the fuel pump to get up full pressure,that gives a better spray pattern from the injector.
You can also consider putting the gas pedal 1/2 way to allow more air if you think the engine is flooding.
