Our 2001 accord 5spd with 95k miles and gets 29-31 mpg has terribly acceleration. It idles fine, starts easy, but when it is time to get up and go it is terribly. I have owned many older accords in the past and they all ran better than this current 2001 model we have.

Does anybody have an idea of where to start looking? Is there a common issue with this year model?

Are the maintenance items up to date like the spark plugs? Does the check engine light turn on when driving? You may want to stop by a parts store and have them scan the codes anyway.

The other possibility is that the clutch could be slipping. That is the last thing I would consider right now.
