2001 Accord Bearing
I have a 2001 Accord with ABS. It has a noise wham, wham, wham, faster the car goes louder the noise. Mechanic says its the bearing. How hard is this to replace? I am not an beginner but not an expert either. I was thinking I could just replace the whole hub. Is it hard to do this? what kind of tools does it require?
Thank you
Thank you
did he say wheel bearing or cv axel ? both are not that difficult, if its the wheel bearing you revome the wheel and brake rotor and large nut affixed to drive shaft, drop the steering arm and disconnect the shock/strut, revome the hub, i am guessing that bearing is a sealed unit like my 84 crx was, i used a blowtorch heated up the hub and the bearing fell out, heated it back up and dropped in the new bearing and let it cool and put it all back together
if its the cv shaft making the noise (it will click really loud when turning)
replace the enitre unit , once you have the nut off the end and lower control arm disconnect you slide the hub off the end of axel and then get a large flat head screwdrive and pry between the inner cv and block, it has a (c) clip holding it it, put in new unit and bolt everything back together, hope this helps,
you can also look this proceedure up in they haynes manual or online...
