Default 2001 Accord EX Auto Trans Rebuild

I recently bought my 2001 Accord EX 2.3L Auto transmission car with 208k miles on it. When I bought it, the person told me that the transmission was starting to slip. After reading numerous posts and threads about the 98-02 tranny problems, I have one question. If I invest the $200 in a rebuild kit for it would I be wasting my money? I love the car and everything else about it. I did the tranny flush with genuine honda fluid to the tune of $77 for the 9 quarts of fluid. Not too bad and the flush showed a lot of gunk coming out initially. Currently if I accelerate at a moderate pace it shifts fine except when initially putting it in drive and also when coming to a stop it takes a second or so to down shift to 1st and is a little rough. Thanks for any help from anyone else that may have done the rebuild or have suggestions.

I haven't personally done the rebuild, but i do own an 02 with a rebuilt trans and only 111k on the clock. When I do have to rebuild it again I will definitely be doing it. That car will run forever! You wouldn't be wasting money either!

Thanks! I will lean more toward doing the rebuild as the engine is running great!

I know nothing about auto trans but I highly suggest this gentle reading.

Thanks Poorman212 for the advice and thanks for that great info. It will definitely influence my rebuild project.

Hope it works out for you....again, I know nothing about what goes on "inside" the auto trans, unless we are talking about the old chevy powerglide .

Anyway, this "seems" to be one of the best answers I have seen to the mystery of the 98-02 auto trans issues. My opinion is only based upon hours of reading, no real life experience. So take it as that.
