2001 Accord V6 - bad transmission - worth fixing?

Hi everyone,
Is my car worth fixing? I have a 2001 V6 Honda Accord Coupe with just under 100,000 miles. Recently the transmission light has been flickering, and at the Honda dealership they determined it to be a failed transmission that requires a replacement. The 08-02 Accords have had known transmission problems, and Honda had extended the transmission warranty to about 7.75 years or 109,000 miles, but I am disqualified for coverage since I am beyond 7.75 years. Recently called Honda of America, and eventually they agreed to cover half of the costs. Of a $2800 cost, they will cover $1400, and the rest is on me.
There are no other major issues that I am aware of, and the car runs fine. I have had no major repairs/improvements to date. KBB private seller value for a "Good" condition of my car is about $4800.
Any thoughts on whether it's worth it to fix it? I appreciate any input.
Thanks!

If you really like your car and there are no other major issues with it...then look at the car this way -0-0-..It will cost you alot more $$$$$ to replace one than to fix it up...if that's all that's wrong with it..

as a 2001 EX V6 owner with 130,000k mi. i'm wary of the tranny issues. I take precautions daily and have had good luck so far. if the tranny fails on me, i'll repair/replace it. however, i may do an engine swap while i'm in there since an equal replacement tranny is just as likely to fail. i've read about people having 2-3 failures in the first 100k mi. if i could find a different tranny to mate up with it (including the associated electronics) i'd consider that too. maybe Acura parts.
The Acura trannies you could bolt up have the same problems, not to mention the controlling electronics for both the engine and transmission are in the same unit. What about a manual swap? They cost about the same as rebuilding/replacing the automatic.
thanks for the heads up on the Acura parts, i wasn't aware of that.
to the OP - be thankful Honda is even paying for half.
