Default 2001 Honda Accord LX misfiring?

I am new here. I have a 2001 Honda Accord LX, 4 cyl., 2.3L. I was having problems. Took to a mechanic. Here is what was replaced:

spark plugs and wires (store brand)
Distributor cap & Rotor
Delayed Timing Solenoid
Starter
Fuel pump & filter
Fuel pump relay

Prior to, my gas mileage was about 380 to 400 mpg. Now, it is about 200 mpg! Ouch. Not only this, but now the engine lights are still on, and the driving is horrible. I will explain.

Car has a rough idle and is noisy. When accelerating, car seems to shutter and want to stall. It is very slow to take off. Automatic transmission, but almost seems to act like a manual. My mileage is about 230,000.

I looked at the code reader and it said Cylinder 1 misfire. Code was P0301. I am thinking I need to replace the spark plugs and wires, this time using NKG Iridium IX plugs. Does it matter on the wires?
What are your thoughts? I need to get this fixed asap. Thanks.

Looks like the mechanic just decided to replace everything instead of finding the problem. Seems to me you're back to square 1. I would take it back and have them diagnose the issue.

Personally I only use NGKs but that is a preference of mine. You may need to start at the coil to see if you are getting spark up to the coil. You can also do a simple swap on the coil to see if the misfire change cylinders. At least that will let you know if you have an actual problem with cylinder 1.

If you're not getting spark to the coil then diagnose the distributor could just be a bad cap. There are a lot of YouTube videos on simple diagnoses for your issue.

Did you get the same P0301 code before this repair on your car?

Clean the inside temperature sensor I think tht is what ist is called. Two ten mm bolts taking out and clean it. Also clean the throtlebody as well as the map sensor I think it is called right on the front top of the throttle body. Clean the EGR I used brake cleaner and work fine..
