2001 LX 4 cl- shutters at low idle
My car shutters when at low idle like when at stop light.
Sometime it almost cuts off. No check engine lights are on and no codes show up when checked at Autozone.
Any ideas?

I found some pics on how to clean the IACV and plan on doing that soon.
While the car was going down the street today about 45 miles per hour, all power was lost and then came back on less than 5 seconds later. Could this be something other than the IACV?

Yeah, the idle-control system would operate at idle, not 45mph. I read your first post as idle RPM but if you mean electrical power was lost for a couple seconds then that's completely different.
Can you make it happen by wiggling the key? Flaky ignition switch? (If you can't make it happen that doesn't prove the ignition switch is good.) After power comes back on, does the check-engine light do it's 2-second bulb-check? Does the immobilizer lamp (green key) come on for a couple seconds?

My wife said that the "maintance light" came on and blinked about three times and then stayed off. The "check engine light" and "immobilizer lamp" did not come on at all. This has only happened this once. The other times are at the stop light with foot on brake and in drive and then while in car line in park as well.
She says it just looses power out of no where and comes back on just as fast. Shutters may not be the right word to use.

Does 96 have a maintenance LIGHT or is it the mechanical colored tab?
Wait... this is the 2001?
Anyway, that's just an oilchange reminder it has nothing to do with the power loss or shudderring. It's just a reminder based on milage. After a little while it'll stay on. Here's how to reset it (might have to wait until it stays on).
Key OFF.
Press & hold the odometer reset button.
Turn the key ON while continuing to hold the reset button.
Continue to hold the reset button for another 20 or 30 seconds (seems like forever).
Lamp will flash a few times then turn off.
DONE.

dear sir john.. trust me when i tell u that YOU need to experience this problem yourself.. im not saying your wife is dumb.. but sometimes the word POWER gets used where it should not be used.. Ive been fixing cars, boats AND lite aircraft (small turbine heli's too) for a living for over 40 years and ive learned the hard way especially with 'loss of power' complaints to NEVER assume 100% that THAT is whats really happening..oh the stories i could tell...

Ask her to pay attention to how the lights operate when you first turn the key to the II position and do not try to start the car.
If the maintenance light (and other lights) act the same way when the problem occurs, I would be leaning towards dirty/loose connections on the battery cables (easy to clean and eliminate). Then I would suspect the electrical portion of the ignition switch. You may want to call your local dealership and find out if your car is part of the ignition switch recall and if that has been done on your car.
