2001 Sport Brake Pipes?

2001 Sport Brake Pipes?
First post so please be gentle!
2001 Accord Sport.
One of the front to rear brake pipes along the left side chassis member has burst and the other one's very rusty so both need replacing.
I'm a bit confused by conflicting reports as to wether or not the gas tank needs dropping when the pipe is routed across the back to the right side caliper. It's dark now and I can't have a good look until morning but any hints would be greatly appreciated.
