2002 accord sometimes won't start
We're 2nd owner. Bought car with 15k on it 7yrs ago. Has 75k on it now. This has happened only 3 times since we have had the car. Get in it to start it and it just turns over but will not start. May crank it 8 to 10 times then it will start and run perfect. No lights, codes or anything. It is a 4cyl, 5spd, 4door accord. I did search on here and found none quite like this problem. Remember this has only happened 3 times in 7yrs, but it is a problem. It happened once while on vacation. Twice in the driveway. Just wondering when it will happen again? Thanks for any input.
Kinda tough when it happens so infrequently...
Get in the habit of turning the key to ON but not immediatley to START. Listen for the fuel pump to run for 2 seconds. It's not very loud, in the fuel tank, so you'll also have to get in the habit of turning off the radio & ventilation so you can hear this.
If it does NOT run, that might indicate a main-relay problem.
If the pump DOES run but the car still doesn't start, then we start looking in a different direction. Have to decide between lack-of-fuel or lack-of-spark.
