Post 2002 Honda Accord - Rear License Plate bolts?

First I did see a few threads on this for different year accords, but was not sure if Honda changed these in different year cars.

I have a 2002 Honda Accord EX 4 door automatic.

Originally, I had some crappy nylon screws in the license plate in the rear of my car. One of them broke, so I decided to go get some metal ones instead. I went to auto-zone and got what I thought was the right size - M6-1,0 in 10mm, 20mm and 30mm length. I used one of the old nylon screws I had extra to size it up, it seemed the right size.

But when I try to screw in these new metal screws, they are too big. I'm guessing it's a size down from what I bought? If so, what is the actual size? I've been frantically Googling it all day, but couldn't' find a site/thread specific to my car. I looked on the majestic honda site, but they only have info on the front license plate holder, not the rear.

Thank you.

Not sure on the set up for the 02.

Can you not take the car with you to a good parts store and "try out" the bolts until you find the one(s) that work?

I believe on the 2002 sedan the rear license plate were held on with self tapping screws and plastic nuts, while the coupes use bolts and plastic nuts in the rear.

I did take my car back up today with both my hand screwdriver and electric, and tried like 4 different sets of screws. None of them would go all the way in. I ended up putting the old nylon ones back in, and they are in for now...

I think the Honda dealer I got my car at either put some non-standard metal bolts on the back, or the bolts are messed up. They look welded on, so they might be pretty hard to replace. I may have to take it to the dealer and get them to replace them, since they are the ones who put them on.

Thank you for the help though everybody.
