Default 2002 Honda Accord V6 p1607 p1705 & P1738

Wife brought the car home with CEL on and the D4 light flashing. Pulled the codes and got P1607, P1705 and P1738.

Searching other forums seems like the P1607 is ECU and P1705 and P1738 are transmission. One Honda tech in another forum, posted years ago, suggested the possibility of a drink spilled by the transmission selector switch. See: what does code p1705 mean - Honda-Tech

Any insights would be appreciated!

Looked up the codes from the Honda PDF listed in the forum FAQ:

P1607 Engine Control Module (ECM)/Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Internal Circuit Malfunction

P1705 Short in Transmission Range Switch Circuit (More than one range position is on at the same time)

P1738 Problem in 2nd Clutch Pressure Switch Circuit

Seems unlikely all failed at the same time. Forgot to mention the transmission was rebuilt about a year ago. No issues since. Does seem to shift into reverse rather hard.

Any insights on where to start would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Can you clear the codes, then see which code(s) return?

Default Codes Cleared and re-tested

Cleared the codes as suggested. Took the car for a test drive.

No CEL or other indicators, but did get code 1738 again.

P1738 Problem in 2nd Clutch Pressure Switch Circuit

Car seemed to drive fine.

Interesting that it did not set the CEL on. Suggestions?

Found a connector off on the top of the transmission. Engine is a V-6. I suspect this is the 2nd Clutch Pressure Switch and that it was never reconnected when the transmission was rebuilt.

Reset the codes.

Current behavior:
Engine sometimes has a hard start. Starter is turning the engine over, but there is no "fire". Sounds like the ignition system is off. If you keep cranking for 6 - 8 seconds, the engine fires and I get code: 1607

P1607 Engine Control Module (ECM)/Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Internal Circuit Malfunction

Is this the main engine computer? Can this be replaced by a shade-tree mechanic such as myself?

No longer getting the transmission code.

Any insights???

Thanks!

If the PCM is replaced you have to re-program the immobilizer.

Planning on sending the ECU in for repair. Wish me luck!
