Default 2003 Accord Winshield Wiper Flopping

Hi,

My 2003 Accord driver-side windshield wiper arm is flopping around when turned on.

On the driver side, I can easily rotate the arm around the screwed on connection point (on the firewall). There is a hand-tighenable cap nut that is on and was loose when I first found it...so tightened it as much as possible, but no fix...must be a round slot that the arm locks into?

Thoughts on what might be the issue?

I tried to take off the arm (by removing the hand-tightened cap nut) , but doesn't want to come off. How do I get this off?

Thanks!!!

Andy

Lightbulb Hi Andy

If you live around a Auto Zone..take your car over to them to look at it..they are helpful...

After you remove the nut, push on the arm between the nut and the pivot point. This is usually all it takes to loosen it. You might have to lift the wiper into the "clean the windshield" position cuz sometimes the spring on the arm kinda wedges the arm onto the shaft.

If you can spin that nut by hand, it might be stripped. You should be able to tighten that nut to lock the wiper onto its shaft.

Pop off the decorative cap then unscrew the nut and remove the arm. On the serrated stud clean the metal shaving then reinstall the arm.
