Default 2004 Accord EXL sedan losing power randomly.

My 2004 accord is losing power randomly. If I'm driving all dash lights go off and car slows then it kicks right back on.

Sometimes when I turn the key all goes black and no power to anything and 10-45 seconds later the security dash light comes back on and I can turn it on. Sometimes that happens once. Sometimes it happens three or four times in a row.

I have cleaned the battery terminals and it seems to be better for a while. But still happens.

I bought new positive cable and it's not as much of a do it yourself job as I hoped.

I had the alternator tested and am told it's working fine

Any advice greatly appreciated.

It could be the cable but I was unable to install.

You might want to check & try to rule-out a flaky ignition switch also.

To follow-up on Jim Blake's response. A quick test for a flaky ignition switch is to shake the key while the car is running. If the car stalls out, then you pretty much verified the electrical portion of the switch is faulty. If nothing happens and the car keeps running, then the ignition switch still isn't ruled out.
