Default 2005 accord p1157 wont clear

I have a 2005 ex accord with the 2,4 engine, The cel came on and the code is the p1157. I ordered an after market part and when i went to replace it i found the wires had been chewed by some varmint. I replaced the upstream sensor and also found the laf fuse had blown so i replaced that too. I cleared the code and it comes right back after the engine runs a few minutes. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go from here? Could the fact that the wires obviously shorted have ruined the pcm? any help would be greatly appreciated.

I followed the troubleshooting guide listed in previous posts about this issue. Wires from sensor to ecu dont show an open associated fuses are ok. Does anyone know if there is a relay in the mix that may cause the issue?

You installed an aftermarket upstream sensor? Use Denso. Honda doesn't like anything other.

What was the part number for the aftermarket sensor and the brand? Just want to make sure you installed the correct sensor.

Was the wiring chewed on the sensor side of the connector or on the engine wiring harness side of the connector?

Thank you for your response unfortunately i dont have a part number here is the ebay listing https://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-Air-Fuel...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT, it said it was a direct replacement for part #s 234-9040, 234-4797. I replaced both sensors since the price was good compared to the dealer. The wires were chewed on the sensor side no damage post the connector it still has the wrap post, Im concerned that if it shorted when i started the car that it zapped the pcm. It did pop the fuse so I am hoping that isolated the pcm.

The upstream air/fuel sensor usually runs ~$100. The downstream oxygen sensor runs around $45. You installed a extremely cheap parts.

If this was my car, I'd probably repair the original upstream sensor by soldering the wires, then use heat shrink. Then I'd reinstall the original sensor and see if the code goes away.

I'd also consider reinstalling the original downstream O2 sensor, since nothing was wrong with it. At minimum, I'd keep the old downstream O2 sensor and reinstall if I got a code.

Now if you already tossed the original upstream a/f sensor, buy the denso sensor. I've used densoaftermarket.com to get the part number, and they have options for where you can buy the sensor. I also wouldn't be afraid to install an OEM sensor from a u-pull-it yard that came off the same 2.4 EX accord either.

The fuse is designed to protect the wiring and pcm, so hopefully you didn't do any damage to the PCM.
