Post 2005 Honda Accord Brake light problem

I have a 2005 Honda Accord. When I don't have my headlights on, the brake lights on the driver's side of the car do not work. When I have the headlights on, they work fine. What's the problem and how do I fix it?Thanks

When strange electrical problems arise, I suspect a ground problem. I would disconnect the ground and clean the eyelet and bolt with a wire brush or some sand paper.

I think the ground bolt is on the trunk. If you go to the common diy thread on top of the gen tech help forum, there is a link to online shop manuals. There is a link for a pdf of the 03-07 shop manual that will show the ground location(s) on the back of the car.
