Default 2007 Accord nav problem

I have a 2007 ACCORD EX SEDAN with an intermittent ( turns on once every 2-3 weeks) NAV/RADIO DISPLAY UNIT. There is a glow on the unit, so it is on, but no information, radio, A/C info or touch screen ability. Once in a while, the screen does appear, and requires nav/radio reset, etc. Works until the ignition is turned off, then back to a blank screen when car restarted. In addition, when the nav unit is off, the steering wheel voice command button does not work, neither does any of the buttons around the NAV screen, such as " info, A/C, radio" , etc. Any idea if this could be loose wiring/connection? All related fuses were checked. Does anyone know if there may be a different fuse/module responsible for the unit not mentioned in the manual? Is a pinout available for the audio/display unit? Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any replies.

I'd suggest getting a shop manual for your car. You can get one for the 04-07 on automanualsource.com for ~$22. It will show the pinout for the navigation system. Check the power and grounds with a test light going into the navigation unit to see if you have a wiring issue. If those test come back good, then something is wrong on the circuit board(s) for the navigation unit.

It could be something as simple as bad/cracked solder joints or a bad component. Just start with the basics if the stereo is getting good power and ground. Look for corroded connectors. If you have a pin about the same size as the pins on the circuit board, make sure you don't have loose female pins on the electrical connector.

Thanks for the suggestion! I will check out the site. Has to be something like you mentioned - bad joints, wiring, corroded connectors. Waiting for better weather.

Thought it would have been a break in the cable or wiring somewhere, especially since the voice command button did not work either whenever nothing appeared on the monitor. The disc player in the back was replaced with a junk yard find. The Nav disc worked in it, but not in the older unit. Switched this back and forth a few times. Definitely the old disc player unit. Still not logical, because no reason the voice command should go out as well, but all worked with the replaced junk yard disc player.
