It’s especially noticeable when shifting from park to reverse. This isn’t the typical uphill clunk, it happens on flat land.

Any ideas?

 

Have an assistant shift through the gears while you are at the hood. Look for excessive movement in the engine or transmission. Try to get a general idea of where the noise is coming from.

Also, do you have any noises while driving?
