Default 2008 Accord Key Fob

Hello everyone! I have a 2008n Accord EX-L Sedan with a key fob that doesn't work over 90% of the time. Instead of buying a new one from the dealer, I have located used/new key fobs with blank keys for the Accord on eBay for like $20. My question is.....Can you switch the key fob portion of the key out and reprogram it for your car by yourself? If so, please give me instructions. Thank you!!

You cannot reprogram it yourself.

The earlier 8th generation Accord remote transmitters had issues (probably had an excessive gap between the keyless remote’s printed circuit board and its lower cover). Honda issued a service bulletin (TSB #09-099) to techs regarding replacing the keyless remote module (that part inside the key fob cover). The latest Honda keyless remote transmitter for the 8th generation is Honda part # 35118-TA0-A04.

Programming needs to be done at the dealership, as 8th generation Accords uses the Type VII Immobilizer system, which most (if not all) locksmith do not have the hardware/software to program.
