2009 V6 Accord low frequency resonance
Hello,
I'm new to the forum with a question about my 2009 Accord V6. I'm the original owner, it has about 45,000 miles and has never had an engine or exhaust problem, yet, I noticed yesterday the engine is a little louder at idle and at most rpm's, some rpm's more than others. It sounds like a very low frequency resonance, like an exhaust leak, but I thought the exhaust system would last longer than 45,000 miles. There are no warning lights illuminated. The problem started on a cold startup yesterday and is the same or worse today. The noise definitely sounds like it's coming from the enine compartment. Could it be an exhaust manifold leak? Everything looks normal under the hood and, to the naked eye, the exhaust systems "looks" normal. I don't know much about the noise canceling feature, but I wonder if it went bad and the noise I'm now hearing is just the regular engine noise that used to be "canceled". Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Gino

I have an answer to my own question. The Honda dealer suspected a bad engine mount, so a quick inspection at the Honda dealer revealed the mounts to be intact, but a large peach-pit-like seed was found to be lodged just behind my engine near the exhaust manifold. It was lodged so tight and was so solid the mechanic had to break it up using a hammer and screwdriver. It must have somehow affected the balance of the engine creating the resonance and vibration. Some squirell must have gotten up there ehile my car was parked at work. The car is back to normal. Gino
