I have an oil leak (dark brown) and an appointment with my certified Honda mechanic on Saturday. I had a major service a few weeks back (oil/transmission fluid, etc) and side motor mounts replaced as well. The collection on the garage floor appears to be off center closer to drivers side and parallel with the back of the front tire if that makes sense. I’ll try to attach photos. I’d greatly appreciate it if anyone has any ideas what might be the cause, although I suspect there are several possibilities. BTW, other than motor mounts, this car has performed flawlessly from day 1. Thanks in advance, Bonnie
My best guess based on your previous service and the location is the oil filter. The original seal could have remained stuck to the engine and the new seal on the filter won't seal. It will probably be an easy fix.
I would check your oil level to make sure you are not extremely low where the level doesn't show on the dipstick, because low oil can cause excessive engine wear.
Thank you! The car has been parked for 10 hours, not sure if that’s enough time for it to settle and it appears to still be roughly up to 2nd dot. So perhaps slow leak. I thought that I saw something last week, but for some reason it slipped my mind. So today when I left the car outside to carry a large box in, I realized that it needed to be addressed. Thanks again!
