2013 Accord, shift lever locks up in park
Hi, I've had this vehicle 6 months now, and the shift lever has locked up on me 3 times. My service advisor is trying to convince me I am accidently bumping the brake pedal getting into the vehicle? If a wait a few minutes the lever will release on it's own allowing me to shift out of park and off I go! I have to take the vehicle back to Honda Monday for the Battery Sensor recall and I would like to have them check out this shift problem. Sometimes, these service advisors come up with standard explanations which might convince themselves, but not the customers. They tend to turn a deaf ear on customer complaints!
Accord is a 2013 EX-L V6 with the push button start.
If anyone out there has had this problem, I would appreciate any info you might have!
Thanks - Rick

I'm guessing that you can't shift the car out of park? When the problem occurs, check that your brake lights are actually working when you press on the brake pedal.
On older accords, there was a cover near the shifter that you removed and inserted your key to manually bypass the shift lock. You 2013 accord may have this. Take a look in the owner's manual to verify.
