Default Hard to press transmission shift lever button

2001 Accord LX The button on shift lever is hard to depress -- first press in the morning is 'easy' but then becomes resistant and depresses slowly with steady resistant pressure. No problem actually shifting just hard to press the button in.

I would suspect the lock-out feature is partially engaging causing the button force to be high. Only way to know is pull the console off and inspect.

good luck

Nothing spilled -- it feels 'hydraulic' -- like pressing a plunger on a syringe with syrup in it.

You might have luck taking the top handle off & try to lubricate the parts?

Solved! Took the top handle off and lubricated the parts --- works perfectly! Thanks!
