Default 2016 Accord-Engine wind deflection tray(required?)

I've been struggling every time I change the oil with the screw/fasteners that hold the tray on. I bought new male and female ends but they still won't fasten properly. Is this tray necessary? Has someone come up with a better system to fasten this plate? I can't believe they would make such a crappy design.

No replies, does that mean I'm the only one with this issue?

Are you asking about the plastic shield under the engine to access the oil drain bolt?

It is a metal wind shield and yes to access drain plug and filter.

I'm not familiar with the 2016 setup. Haven't seen any complaints about it on here. It helps with aerodynamics, but I'm not sure how you can improve fastening.
