Good point if the manual is for other markets (e.g., UK/Euro). However, sometimes there have been typographic errors in service manuals too. Some errors are caught and Honda may issue a Service News article regarding it. Here is one example:

Well, the one manual I downloaded for my daughter (92 Accord) was obviously a Helm book by the typeface and general layout. But it showed 1.8 and 2.0 engines and the steering wheel on the right. Pretty obvious in that one case...

Well, I just stopped by Autozone to get a distributor, and I brought my meter to compare the resistance, but the resistance on the new one was the same as the one on my car now. It was 371 ohms.

Now I tested a third one from CarQuest. Same reading 391 ohms

Another observation I just made is that when I unplug the 4 pin connector from the alternator, the car only take 2 key turns to start instead of 3, but that does not get rid of the P1381 code.

At this point from what I've learned and reading other posts I'm thinking the problem is related to the ECM and not the sensor since the ones i found in stores were the same resistance, and others problems were not fixed when they changed it out. Possibly the hanes manual should say the the 96 should still be the same measurment as the 95( at around 300-400ohms)

Is there a way to test the ECM without having a second ECM to plug in?

Also what is your opinion of the car taking less cranks to start with the alternator unplugged?

Update, I just put in a new reman distributor hoping for the best, but there was little to no change. also replaced the starter because I think I burned it out starting it so much. Well, that's one thing it's not

I'm pretty sure an OBD2/LX CYP spec is 350Ω - 700Ω.

I have read reports of a shorted alternator diode causing a CYP CEL. And since unplugging the alternator makes the problem get better, I think I'd replace the alternator. If you have access to a scope you can check for excessive AC ripple before replacing it.
