5 clutch master cylinders in 2 years!!!
So I blew my 4th clutch master cylinder in 2 years in my 06 accord vtech. The first 3 was an attempt to fix it in the first place. I bench bled them all and installed the first one with a new slave, just because. The slave is still fine. But the first one blew up in a week. Figured ok bad new part. Never had an issue with doorman parts until this. Replaced the second time with another doorman reman. It lasted a month. My parts store ate the price difference and got my a brand new centric. This is the one that just blew. Lasted about 2 years, or 25k miles. Has anyone ever had this problem with the 06 accord? Clutch master cylinder is typically a lifetime part so I'm confused about how many of these I've heard pop in the same car. If I can find a conversion to cable I'm thinking about that. This is ridiculous! Any help would be appreciated
So i don't have a manual for that car, i do for my others. But following instructions i bench bled(obviously) the master. Pain in the butt to install and bleed. I left the tiniest bit of slack for the pedal per instructions (half a thread on the rod). All of them have done the same thing. I hear a, snap! Sound. Clutch pedal goes to the floor and bleeding out makes less pedal. I'm convinced something internal literally broke. Im taking this centric one apart to investigate as ive rebuilt many masters and calipers and cylinders. I've driven it home multiple times 40 miles without having the ability to disengage the Clutch.
so obviously I ended up replacing the starter motor after a while. But 25k is unacceptable for a "lifetime " part. Let alone one week from doorman. The doorman parts never let me down until this.
It dosen't resemble a traditional master cylinder either with a two piece line connection, remote reservoir and weird 3 bolt plate coveringtheend.. I've replaced two MAYBE three on cars with 300k plus. And I've pulled out old ones not used in years and fabricated them into a mud truck etc to make work. Old, dirty and dry they never blew! I'm at a loss on this.
any information would be greatly appreciated. I'm ready to go back to a cable with this one.

It won't be easy to switch to a cable. A snap in the master cylinder is likely a cup seal breaking. My best guess is that the master cylinder is creating excess pressure to move the slave cylinder. I'd probably replace/rebuild the master and slave cylinder as a set.
Also look at the mounting bracket for your clutch pedal under the dash. I recall the pedal bracket on some cars would crack and maybe the pushrod is out of alignment causing your issues.

I was thinking about if I should do both again. I never thought about a cracked or bent pedal bracket. I'll look at that for sure. Thanks
WTF!!! Theres the problem. How does that even happen except for a guy at the factory who doesn't know what he is doing
