Default 88 accord with idle problem

Hi
I have an 88 honda accord and for some weird reason while giving my car gas and sometimes when it is idleing the tachometer is jumping up. This causes my car to feel like it is missing. Ive replaced the distributer cap and rotor and tried to change the inner relay but the one I have is dead. Any other ideas about why this is jumping??? Anything helps! Thanks

What trim level is this car, or another way of getting there is it carb or fuel injected?

Not sure what you mean by "inner relay", can you give more details.

When the "tach" is jumping up, is the engine actually doing the same.

Fuel injection and the inner relay is down in the drivers footwell little black box about one inch by two inch. And the tack jumps up and the engine almost coughs like its getting too much gas but only when under a load...

Does the check engine light ever come on when this is happening?

I'll assume when you did the tune up you replaced the plugs as well?

Begining to sound like the ICM is going out. Some parts stores can test them, have them run the test several time as this builds heat in the unit and the heat is what begins to make them "act up".

If you can find a parts store that can test it, there are some tests you can do with a volt meter.
