89' accord: how to remove/replace vacuum choke opener
Hey guys,
In one part of a repair I am taking on, I am facing an issue where the choke will not open more than a small amount. I have found that I did not get significant vacuum when moving the choke opener arm manually, so I assume that the diaphragm has failed on this piece. I bought another one which looks like this: OES Genuine Choke Diaphragm Fits Honda Accord 89 88 87 86 1989 1988 1987 1986 | eBay
Upon beginning the replacement job, I was unable to remove either of the two visible screws on the front of the carb that hold the opener in place. I sprayed penetrating oil, but none of my 30 or so screwdrivers are able to fit into the available space to point straight into the screws without stripping them. Has anyone done this job before, or have some idea of a tool that can fit in the space to remove the two screws?
Thanks for reading.

Part may have been installed w/ carb removed from intake manifold.
Depending on access I have had some success w/ a flexible extension for a ratchet screwdriver. This may allow aligned access.
If screw is very tight it may be necessary to resort to special tools;
1) A sharp punch or chisel can be used to direct a blow to side of screw head to break screw loose.
2) A rounded nut socket driven down over the screw head may allow extraction w/ a ratchet and wobbly extensions.
good luck

Thanks Texas for the suggestions. The bottom screw in nearly inaccessible to any tool other than a screw driver so I'm thinking a hammer impact screw loosener to break the top screw loose then a die grinder to cut away the old choke opener body and grind off the head of the lower screw and use the remaining stub of the bottom screw as a positioner pin and only the top screw to hold it in place.
this seems to be a common failure part so I was hoping to hear how others replaced it.
