did it just start out of the blue one day? Do you normally run at least 1/4 tank of gas? Does it do it anywhere but the interstate or is it only at higher speeds?

it just started doing this a couple of days after I bought it. It has happened between 40 75 mph. It doesn't do it say from a stop sign where the motor is really loaded to move the car. It has happened with a full tank or half, it doesn't seem to care. thanks! please help!!!!!!!!

Well I'm a guessing person so I'd guess it's a fuel or ignition issue... How long have you had the car? Possible junk in the gas tank, fuel filter issue... I like to start small, if it hasn't been tuned up (plugs/wires, cap rotar etc...) lately I'd do that as well as a fuel filter and a bottle of fuel injector/carb cleaner... You should get some better responses shortly if this is something you've already done....

You might need to clean those carb jets. Other wise I'd check fuel filter, plugs and cap and rotor.
How do your spark plug wires look?

remove the air cleaner, on the back of the carb, below the idle solenoid, there are 2 vacc hoses , that if broken will cause exactly what you are experiencing, bucking at 40-60 mph,,
take a good look at them, replace if cracked or broken, put together, test drive,,
post the results
