89 accord update: FUN
Appears to be coming from the pan...hard to be 100percent on the switch cause it wont drip unless hot and I cant see it good without my phone camera and I keep burning my hands trying to get a good look..
If I want to go ahead and take switch out how do u recommend? I wonder how tight that thing is because I was thinking of a hand wheel ratchet. Wasn't sure what would fit over the nipple that the wire attaches to
I hate replacing if you are not sure. Did you clean the back side of the block and have a good look?
IF you want to replace the switch. The boot and wire come off - yes the boot is prob going to give way....it is rubber, been there for ~25 years in a lot of heat cycles. Most parts stores rent, sell oil pressure switch sockets. If you still have issues getting to it you can remove the oil filter for a bit more room.
The threads are "pipe" threads. So in theory you do not need to use sealant on them - plus the switch has to ground via the threads to the block. The tourque is not much (13 ft lbs, about the same as spark plugs - snug).
