Default XMSN troubles

Correct, NO flashes illuminated from the CEL, S or D4 light.

Now that you mention it, neither I or the girl driving noticed if the speedo was working, (because we didn't notice I can only guess it was working normal or it most probably would have caught our attention) so i'll go drive it again this morning and see if it does work. When it had the temporary fault was the important time to notice.

Cheers

Default Morning check

It's 38 deg in Indy. Started car, starts fine, "S" light is ON, solid, NO CEL !
Waited two or three min. warm up, back up from driveway and S light goes out while backing.
Shifts fine. Speedo works fine. No lights on panel.
Returned after four block, start stop drive and inserted code check pin before shuting eng off and no flashes !
CEL does illuminate with the insertation of shorting wire but stays solid and NO flashes from CEL, S or D4 lights.

????????????????????????????? "S" light on when I first started engine after sitting all night ??????????????????? then goes out and stays out, after drive to pick up girls other vehicle three mi. away. ???????????????????????????

Cheers

Default Vss

Car acted normal other than as described before with the temporary S light and then this morning with the light on from start up and as described.
Runs like a Honda. Just can't figure this light coming on and off and effecting the shifting?

Default Damn ???

So I let the car sit and cool from this mornings run at 10:00 until 2:00 this afternoon and started it up.
S light ON solid, NO CEL. Shorted the blue connector without shuting it off and again the CEL illuminated solid and didn't flash and NO other lights came on.
Backed up and drove 1/2 mile, it was in 2nd gear and didn't shift.
Then the S light went out while in motion and it was normal again.
DAMN!
Came back and pushed the S button to engage the S shift mode just to see if that was functional and it worked as advertised.
Continued the drive after pushing the S button again, disengaging the S mode and all acted normal.
NO lights.

????????????????????????????????????????

Cheers

Behavior has some symptoms of TSB 90-039 "S Indicator On No Downshift". If symptoms go away when you reset computer (sounds like yes), then it may be time to consider replacing the TCM w/ a rebuilt or used unit. Check ebay or car-part.com to find a unit.

I have the TSB, but too large PDF to post. PM your email address and I'll forward.

good luck

Default 01 Accord shift problem

Update:
Received TCM back from overhaul facility in Tennessee, ($70) and installed.

Everything works after replacing bad VSS and having TCM overhauled.

If the shifting / speedo problem happens to you, don't **** about and just send TCM off for lifetime gurantee and all will be well again.

Thanks to all who helped diagnose and advise.

Cheers
