91 accord SE engine gremlin
Hey guys I have a quick question for you.
Preface: I have the above car my wife drives it to work just a work car, it is the 2.2 with auto tranny 180k for miles. Tranny just went TU and I replaced it car did not run for about a month while doing the swap (weekend warrior). tranny seems to be in good shape now but the engine has developed an issue it will start to miss and drop cylinders poping and sounds to be backfiring through the intake while driving once in a while, it will keep doing this for about 3 minutes or so then the check engine light will come on and it will run perfect from then on. if you shut car off then restart the light is off and car will run fine until it decides to do it again...
I pulled the o2 sensor out and cleaned it with break clean and blew out with air, seems to look fine, I changed fuel filter took it back out and same thing less than a mile from the house.
I am VERY mechanicly inclined however honda's are not my Forte so to speak. any suggestions or advise would be greatly welcomed!!
Cheers,
Wiz

I assume the code in the computer was for the O2?
Don't think you can clean them. If the code is for the O2, get a new one and go from there. If not, let us know what the code(s) are and we'll go from there.

the code is 43 "fuel system" but as I read farther into the net I found somebody that had the same exact problem and was diagnosed as the o2 sensor. Does this explination sound legit?
"code 43 is the o2 sensor code. Most likely have a problem with the o2 sensor. The reason it runs better after the light comes on is because the computer is running off its presets instead of the information from the oxygen sensor. Replace the o2 sensor and see what happens. Its either in the exhaust manifold or under the car in the pipe before the flexpipe."
