Just bought me a 91 Accord DX at an auto auction and the car is in great condition, only thing is the speedometer isn't functioning.

Is this usually VSS issue or a cluster? i mean i know it'd take some trouble shooting to really determine but if it does happen to be the vss do you have any recommendations on where to purchase? online?

A bad VSS would cause the check engine light to turn on. Is the CEL on?

Also, the cruise control will not work if the VSS is not working properly.

 

whats strange is that the other day while taking it to get smogged the CEL did turn on however the speedometer starting working, but only for one way of the trip, then on the way back it was jumping up and down then just stopped overall again.
