my wife is heading out to Pittsburgh (Day Apolo dealership) to look at a '97 EX Wagon with 72k miles. This will be a real upgrade from our '95 with 230k. It's probably over due for a timing belt. Does anyone know if that year required the fix for the oil seal popping out?

That sounds like a great car, I have always wanted a wagon, and with that low of miles you can't go wrong. What would really put the icing on the cake is if it was a 5 spd.

I have not heard of any issues with the oil seal popping out and I own both a 95 and a 97 accord.

Timing belt is overdue based on TIME, not based on miles. Something like 100k miles or 7 years.

My 95 was part of the recall. The recall definitely included 90-97 accords, and maybe some others.

the Car Fax says all scheduled maintenance was done at 62k miles, but I'm thinking I better be sure on the timing belt, rollers, tensioner etc.
thanks for the replies, the car is a real beauty

Carfax is stupid. It only "knows" what someone typed in.

"All scheduled maintenance" at 62k is a really vague statement. It means NOTHING. Get some receipts or something about the timing belt. Rollers, tensioner, waterpump are NOT listed on scheduled maintenance. Honda officially says they are to be inspected but not automatically replaced.
