Speedometer Acting Funny - 1996 Accord LX -
I have a 1996 Honda Accord LX and just recently the speedometer is acting up. The needle stays stuck at around 20 MPH sometimes, then starts oscillating fairly quickly for a little while before eventually "snapping out of it" and working normally. After the car sits for a while, the condition comes back when you use the car again.
In any case, you can be going down the road at 40 mph and the speedometer shows 20 mph. I guess you can get places faster with a speedometer like this.
Any help on what might be happening would be useful.
Thanks,
AF

My speedo would get stuck at 20mph, and the odometer and tripometer would not work. Mine did exactly what you are describing. All of a sudden, it would oscillate quickly then work.
All my other gauges worked fine. I sent my speedometer off to a speedometer repair shop (google search for one), and they repaired it. It cost around $120 and the speedometer has been fine ever since then.
