The speedometer and odometer only work for brief periods. Any ideas? Thanks!

 

Well, a lot of folks on here have mentioned a bad VSS (Vehicle Speed Senor). So, that could possibly be the issue. I am sure more responses will come soon. A lot of knowledgeable people in this forum.

 

See if your cruise control works when the speedometer doesn't work. If the cruise does not work when the speedometer works, it is probably the VSS. If the cruise control still works when the speedometer doesn't work, then it is probably not the VSS - it is probably something internal within the speedometer.
Also if you have a bad VSS your check engine light should be on.
