Default 92 EX lock-up clutch not engaging

I have a 92 accord EX with 92k miles.

About two days ago, the lock up clutch stopped engaging. The D4 light (my EX does not have a S light) does NOT blink, neither the check engine light.

No error code is shown when the system is jumped. The strange thing is that, when the system is jumped, the check engine light remains on, and the D4 light remains off as long as the ignition is on. I suppose that both lights should be on when the system is jumped and there are no error codes memorized.

The ATF was changed 25k miles ago. The gears are being shifted OK, no behaviour change was noticed.

Thanks a lot.

If this is anything like the 94-97's there should be a little slave hydraulic clutch actuator that engauges/disengauges the clutch disk, make sure the "slide" on that moves in/out freely with the clutch pedal

Hi!

I don't know if I get it, but..... Do you mean THE clutch pedal? That one used in manual transmission equipped cars?

My accord is auto!

I might be mistaken but I believe there is a hydraulic clutch assist on that car, it's located on the transmission towards the front of the car and your clutch cable runs to it.

Check the Thermostat to make sure it is working properly. If the car thinks the motor is too cool then the lock-up will not engage.

There is a cable from the throttle to the pressure lever on the front of the trans, it might need adjusted.
Trans should shift as such;
Level road light throttle at 25 mph then floor the gas and trans downshifts to 1st gear.
Repeat drive at 28 mph, floor the gas, trans only downshifts to 2nd gear.
This would mean the pressure lever cable is adjusted okay

hondadude, i went to do some testing, the gears shifted just the way you described. So there is no problem with the cable. Any other ideas?

RSM93HONDA, the engine temperature gauge is working properly. Is correct to assume that the signal sent to ECU/TCM is the same sent to the gauge?

Thanks a lot!
