92 valve cover replacement
I getting ready to do a valve cover gasket on my 92 Accord. I found oil in my spark plug wires. As I do this repair, does anyone know if i should use some rtv when doing this. I asked one of the techs at my work, ( BMW tech) and he said to use it on the corners or any uneven serfice. If there is someone that might know some tricks for this job, please let me know them. Like, should i use rtv on the spark plug gaskets? And is there anything else i should do while doing the job? I never had to do a valve cover gasket on any Honda that I have owend. And I have owned quite a few Accords. Only older ones.
Thanks again

A little RTV at the 4-corners where gasket crosses the camshaft bearing assy.
No RTV on spark plug tube gaskets, but be sure they're installed correctly. Some have an open side that must slide down the tube as you install. The open side should allow seal to slide easily along the tube. If reversed they won't seal. I'm pretty sure the correct direction is open side facing into the valve cover groove. But look at your arrangement and be sure. It's obvious after stopping and considering.
Don't overtighten the hold down bolts. I think torque is 7 ft-lbs.
good luck

Permatex Grey is a good substitute for HondaBond. Just a little bitat the sharp corners.
I think theres another set of seals further down in the spark plug tubes. For those, you have to remove the rockers &camshaft bearing caps, so its a bigger job. Hope it stops leaking when you put in the new VC gasket.
