93 Accord engine stalls at 6 - 8000ft, gasoline odor

DTC 1 is a problem in the Heated Oxygen Sensor circuit.
DTC 43 is most likely a problem in the Oxygen (O2) Sensor circuit or a problem in the Fuel Supply System. If the Check Engine Light is on, with code 43 and there is poor drivability, then it may be due to a fuel supply issue.

Replaced fuel pump 6 months ago (Airtex), fuel filter changed at that time, also. Stupid me, I forgot to pull the 7.5 fuse after the O2 sensor replacement - the check engine light has never been on - it slipped my aging mind. I've never replaced the Cat. Going to look into that manana.
Thank you all for the great advice. It's giving me hope when I was ready to give up. I have to drive to Wichita and man, I'm feeling the stress of not having a reliable car. I have to make it over the mountains and my Honda keeps dying at 6000 ft...Have to fix it. Too poor to take it to the shop...Stick with me...

Ruptured diaphragm in the fuel-pressure-regulator? Pull the vacuum hose off & make sure there's no fuel in that vacuum hose.
(fuel leaking into that vacuum hose would go to intake manifold & contribute towards too-rich mixture even if the O2 sensor and everything else were OK)

Gentlemen, I have good news. I made it up the mountain - 8200ft. It runs great, again. My mistake was not pulling the 7.5 fuse to erase the trouble codes after I replaced the O2 sensor.
Still not passing smog - checked what Jim Blake said, no gas in the fuel-pressure-regulator. Still not sure why the Idle Speed HC @900ppm...Idle speed drops (from 900rpm down to 500rpm) whenever the fans kick on, when the A/C compressor cycles on, when I turn on the headlights or press the brake pedal. Alternator? Bad distributor? I owe all of you for your expert advice. THANK YOU ALL!

I have to be clear and honest - that is a pic of my oldest son after graduation from OCS USMC base Quantico VA in Aug of 2011. At the same time, yes I thank all who have/are/will serve our country in the forces.
