Default 94 Accord can't shift out of Park

So yesterday I couldn't shift out of Park after I started my 94 accord. I ended up having to use the Shift Release lock to put the car in neutral and then starting the car. I've read that it might be the brake light switch, one way of checking is to see if the brake light are working, they are not. Does anyone know where and how to replace the brake light switch?

Go to the common DIY threads on top of this forum. Click online shop manuals. Go to the hondatech link in the top post. Under accord, there is a 1994 shop manual that will have all the info on how to change the brake light switch.

You may also want to check that the plunger didn't fall our or is not stuck for some reason.

I had success on Acura TL brake light switch w/ simply dousing the switch w/ WD40 and excercising manually. Still working years later.

good luck
