Default 94 accord ex code 9

I have a 94 Honda Accord EX. It has a rough start and when it does crank it throws a code nine. I have replaced the distributor, O2 sensor, engine coolant temperature sensor, spark plugs and spark plug wires. It's still having to crank two or three times before it and it still throws a check engine light, code 9). I pulled the plugs and they were black, but I have not driven the car hardly anywhere. Has anyone ever encountered a problem like this? This was an older car that was given to me in great condition. I do not want to get rid of it but it's giving me the Blues!

A code 9 means the PCM detected a problem in the #1 cylinder position sensor signal or circuit. The root cause can be the sensor, the wiring, or the ECU. The CYP sensor is inside the distributor, so you already replaced the sensor and still are getting a code 9, so the sensor is likely good. That leaves either the wiring or the ECU. Below is a thread from a past moderator on here that I learned a lot from. He had the exact same issue on a 94 accord that you should read. He eventually replaced the ECU and solved the code 9.
