Default 94 accord EX A/T Axle oil leak.

My car is leaking large amounts of oil from the left axle where it meets the tranny. I changed the axle 20,000 miles ago and never had a problem until now. It slowly leaks oil when parked. But in gear and moving, it will leak 2 drops a second and continue until the car is parked for 5 minutes then slowly drips overnight. I think its the axle seal but thats just a guess. But some have said that the transmission is bad.

Yes it sounds like the seal, but also make sure the cv shaft doesn't have scratches, nicks, cuts where it goes into the seal...or you'll be replacing another seal soon.

It is possible that the bearing in the transmission is bad. Try to push the inner joint in the transmission up and down (towards the hood and ground) to see if you have a lot of movement.

Ill have to check it when I get under the car. I assume the seal job is simply pulling the axle, replace oil seals, reinstall? I hope I dont have to take down the tranny.

Is there any reason why my inner driver side CV boot is ripped already? I didnt catch it the first time inspection. My engine mounts were torn recently and I just replaced both front and back. Could the movement of the engine/tranny from bad mounts cause misalignment of the CV Axle and damage the boot and seal/bearings?

Thanks

Torn

Default oil leak

I am having the exact same problem. slow oil leak when car is off, slightly faster when running, but almost a steady stream when tires are spinning. I cannot locate where the oil is leaking from but I can see it is coming down from above the transaxle. no scratches on the transaxle or where it seats into transmission, even replaced that seal. please tell me you found out how to stop the leak.

... same questions as your other post, except this thread is 3 years old.

Can you clean it up & pinpoint the location of the leak?
What year/model/engine/transmission is YOUR car?
(trying to figure out if it's really the same as this 3-year-old thread)
