Default 94 honda accord ex Throttle position sensor

Hey guys

Question where is the throttle position sensor located on a 94 honda accord? And about how much of a estimate is the part cost? Is this something a honda tech must do or is it a do it yourself thing?

The TPS is bolted onto the throttle body. It looks like rivets, but you can remove. Honda only sells the TPS with the throttle body, so that will be an expensive part. The TPS occasionally fails, but it is not common. Fining a used throttle body from an equivalent accord would be a cheaper option.

What diagnosis have you done so far?

1. Do you have a trouble code or some issue that might indicate a problem with the TPS.

2. A new aftermarket TPS is available. Dorman and other brands are available. The Dorman one is about $28, there are cheaper off-brands too.

3. Two shear bolts hold the TPS on. You can either use a center punch and hammer to turn them out or cut a groove into them and turn them out with a flat-head screwdriver.

The center punch method is to make an indentation on the head of the shear bolt, then hold the center punch at an angle and use the hammer to strike the center punch in a counter clock-wise direction to loosen it.

1. See attached photo of the location of the TPS.

2. This other image is the concept of using a center punch and hammer to loosen the shear bolt.

Where I live they have self serving junk yards. Where you take your tools and pill your own parts. That might be a easier option. Any 94-97 the throttle body should be the same. I'm not sure if the vtec motors have different throttle bodies then the non vtec thou.

Hey guys thanks for the replies and I took the car to a honda specialist he said the code it was showing was for the TP sensor. I just had the O2 sensor replaced and new plugs and the cold start valve fixed (his words adjusted) so the code for the O2 sensor code is gone.
The only code still showing is the O2 sensor, so I asked what are parts and labor to get this fixed, that's why I amass where was this part located. Because he gave a totally different answer

What the car does is this ,

1,Sudden Stalling of the Engine
2, Idle Surging but it had a fast idle he fixed that it happens way less than it did before
3, The 'Check Engine' Light is On

We need to know the code number (two digit code) to know what might be the problem. "Oxygen sensor code" is not enough information.

good luck

These are the notes that were left on the repair report for my car it's all I have as far as info

"Found codes stored for TPS and Oxygen Sensor. Upon inspection found that oxygen sensor was missing. Had to install flange by welding to install an oxygen sensor. Check the codes stores after and only code is for TPS now" P0122 Trouble Code

That's all I know I don't have a scanner. He said that was the last code stored and the oxygen sensor has been replaced by him I'm asking about the TPS he was saying that was the last code stored

Are you taking your car to the honda dealer? The P0122 is an OBD2 code, and your 94 accord is OBD1. Are you sure your car is a 94? Is there an OBD2 plug behind the ash tray? I know this may seem a basic question, but I just want to cover all the bases.

Welding a port for the O2 makes it sound like this car was modified. How long have you owned this car? Open the hood and tell us if the valve cover says Vtec Honda motor company, or DOHC Vtec?

I've had the car since march of this year and have barely been able to drive it. The plugs for my car are behind the glove box I can see them hanging from the under the glovebox after this 2nd visit to this mechanic. And no it's not a honda dealer it's a shop that I was referred to, and ASE certified honda mechanic with all of his UTI plaques and stuff all over the place. That's all I know about that. The valve cover says VTEC I know for sure. And I found out the car had a completely new exhaust system on it before I got it and that's all. I'm going off what this guy has told me
