hello there, i have a 95 honda accord ex, 4 cilinders, i just buy it, so i don't know to much about it. i notice the fan dosen't work went is supose to be when is hot, so the temperature go more than the normal and i shut of the engine, so i went to check and i see the fan was working, then i turn the switch on and the fan stop working, so i turn the switch off and the fan start working again.the switch is on, sois kind of backwards, so i dont know how to fix it, just change the sensor??? help i would apreciate.
There are two sensors that control the fan. Temp sensor A controls the fans when the car is running, and temp sensor b controls the fans when the car is shut off. It sounds like you have a problem with temp sensor A. If you unplug that sensor, you can jump the connector to it to see if the fans operate. You can test the resistance on the sensor when the coolant is hot and cold. The circuit should be open when the engine is cool and closed when it is hot.
Sensor A is located in the thermostat housing. Follow the LOWER radiator hose over the tranny & back towards the firewall. The switch is there where the hose clamps to the thermostat housing, it has a plastic plug with 2 wires. Use a paperclip to short between the 2 terminals of the wire. Key on, that should make the fan run. If that's so, then you need a new switch.
