I really think it is worth your time to clean all grounds that you can locate. Start on page 23-14 of the shop manual and do all of the grounds in the engine bay and inside of the car. I would use a wire brush and sandpaper to clean the bolt threads, the eyelet for the ground.

If you look at the pic, it looks like there is a wire harness for the a/c. It is #16. The parts store doesn't sell the part, but you should be able to remove this harness and check for continuity between the red/blu and the grn wire like you did before on the main harness.

Sorry guys. Im back at it now. I was pulling all the old wires from the broken alarm and accidentally cut a grd to the ignition and the car wouldn't start. So thats fixed now and I'm back diagnosing again.

Yes. This is exactly what happens

On the wiring diagram, there is a 3-wire intersection of all red/wht's near the AC diode. Have you checked whether ground is present at that intersection w/ AC Diode disconnected and AC Pressure Switch disconnected. This intersection should show significant resistance (tied to ECM). However, a short to ground in this wire section would cause the ECU to supply ground to the Red/Blu when keyswitch is turned On.

regards

Sorry guys I have to give up for the day, Im exhausted, been working on it for almost 6 hours, and Ive been up since last night at 1030pm. Needless to say Im frustrated, I thought I was onto something. Then the car wouldnt start, fixed that, then the turn signals were out, fixed that. So I basically made more problems than I actually fixed. Only good thing I got done was pulling out all the unused wires from the old alarm (which was alot). So anyway thanks again for all your help and Ill be back at it as soon as I feel up to it again.

Hey guys, one of the posters in this thread gave me an idea, and I am strongly considering it. If I wanted to bipass whereever the compressor is falsely getting its ground and activating and run a toggle switch what wires would I have to bipass. Cuz I think im going to run a simple toggle to grd on the radio panel opposite of the flasher. Theres an empty switch hole that I could drill a hole in and mount the toggle. And when I want ac just push ac button and flip the toggle

Not sure where the short is.

I'd remove the red/blu from the ac relay. Then run the toggle to the relay as a ground when you wanted ac.

Yeah after I asked that I thought about it and realized that in order to do that you need to know where the short is coming from. And if it still happens even with the relay unplugged then doesnt that mean that running a toggle from the red/blu wont fix it?

If it will fix it and Im overlooking something, then I thought of another idea. Do any of the wires that go into the a/c switch go to ground when you push the button? If so then instead of running a toggle couldnt I just tap into that wire? That way it would be sharing the ground and would work just as it would normally, no extra switch required?

I thought about going off the ac switch, not sure which is ground....even thou I should as must as I've read the wiring diagrams in the past two days.

My thought was to pull the red/blu from the realy _removing the gound signal when the cooling fans kick on. Then when you wnat/need ac the toggle would supply ground-along with using the switch on the dash.

But wait.....that would not let the compressor cycle...nevermind...

You sure it wouldnt cycle? Does that mean it cycles from the ground and not the positive (hot wire)?
