95 accord lx. Oil light flashing
Hello HAF
I recently purchased a 95 accord lx with 202k miles. It had bad head gasket when i bought it, so i took it to my backyard mechanic to fix the problem. Cut the story short, now the has been running for about 2 months now, approx 600miles, awhile ago the oil light started flashing/blinking. At first it was flickering then it would go away, but after some more miles of driving it started blinking.
There was no change in engine sound, my temp gauge is normal, i have a year old battery, new oil change and the oil level was at full.
Is this a sign of bad oil pump or is it just the oil sending unit? (Oil switch) I am new at this kind of problem as with my other 96 accord, i had only done maintenance stuff and still running great at 232k miles.
Any input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

This problem is more frequently a bad sending unit. Inexpensive, easy replacement.
A true loss of oil pressure would result in engine knocking (sometimes happens on first startup after oil change).
Sending unit is near oil filter and car must be raised on jack stands to access.
good luck

Thank you TexasHonda
I will look into that, i really hope it is jut the switch and not the pump.
If its the pump, would the car still run? When the oil light was flashing i was still able to take the car home and drove it on the freeway for about 6miles. There was no change in power, no jerking, no knocking during driving. When i got home i listened to the engine and notice no change.
Thanks again
